Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Technical Engineering Support Teams analyze, test and assist in research for the development of products and processes. Team members may specialize in quality control or assurance, chemical manufacturing processes, metals, electrical connectors and components, process development, materials, and/or instrumentation. They may also handle calibration, displays, network control, mold development and audiovisual work or environmental health and safety. The Technical Engineering Support Teams are responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. They plan, prioritize, and manage multiple engineering projects; prioritize tasks and assign team members to ensure that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met. They evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope, budget, or timeline of a project. At times, they may work directly with customers to understand needs, gather customer requirements, identify resources and assess project risks. They create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication, for non-technical and technical users.

Role Objective:
TE Medical, Brooklyn Park, is currently seeking a professional Technical Writer who will be responsible for updating and creating manufacturing documentation for Medical products and will report to the Manager of Engineering in Brooklyn Park. This role requires experience in technical writing, technical illustrations, and engineering acumen to support TE Manufacturing and Quality Engineers, Project Managers and the Senior Leadership Team of the Medical BU to provide best-in-class engineering solutions for our customers, including high quality technical documentation. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating and reviewing technical documentation such as manufacturing work instructions, manuals, data sheets, creating BOMs, etc., The Technical Writer will also track revisions and edits, maintain, and publish the manufacturing documentation through document lifecycle management applications.

Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Creating and updating all manufacturing documentation.
  • Working on the updates and revisions of the technical product and process documentation.
  • Assist site engineering team in developing customized documents according to customer requests.
  • Creating the technical illustrations and customer specific drawings.
  • Working and delivering the assignments as per the priorities and agreed timelines.
  • Working with technical staff, PM and site leadership.
  • Reworking and publishing manufacturing documentation and working with documentation management tools.
  • Working in a collaborative team in developing of database for technical documentation, terminology, and manufacturing process controls for easy access and high reuse.

What your background should look like:

Education/Knowledge

  • Associates degree and 4 years’ of technical experience required - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and experience working in a technical writing position preferred
  • Experience in creating technical illustrations using 3D CAD data (Creo Illustrate)
  • Experience in product data management environment.
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Creo Illustrate, Acrobat and MS Office, other DTP tools an advantage.

  • Knowledge of medical device manufacturing is good to have.

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $64,700 - $97,100 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
