Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. Provide combined environmental vibration testing and mechanical shock testing on product families for the Winston-Salem Electrical Components Test Laboratory.


Responsibilities:

  • Interact with the engineering team to review test plans to ensure testing accuracy.
  • Discuss product performance and test results with engineering functions
  • Work under moderate supervision with some latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions and on assignments that are complex in nature.
  • Responsible for product test at DV and PV levels.
  • Prepare samples for testing, measuring, wiring and soldering.
  • Mechanical ability to assemble and modify complex test fixtures.
  • Electrical ability to understand and troubleshoot AC/DC circuits.
  • Perform initial and final measurements. (Electrical, Temperature and Dynamic)
  • Perform mechanical shock and vibration testing.
  • Monitor tests per specifications, troubleshoot test set-ups.
  • Understand failure modes.
  • Document all pertinent data and verify and review all findings in a technical report in detail with the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ensures good communication between internal customers and lab personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and timely updates on test progression and test schedules and meet committed completion dates.
  • Maintain a clean and organize working environment.

This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national.

What your background should look like:

  • Minimum Requirement: A.A.S Electronics or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Proficiently in fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of product testing in conjunction with connector design fundamentals. (Mechanical & Electrical)
  • Mechanically and electrically knowledgeable.
  • 2 or more years of experience in product/connector testing and product design fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of electrodynamic shakers and the supporting test equipment, controller software, charge amplifiers, accelerometers, voltmeters, oscilloscope, thermocouples and standard hand tool.s.
  • Understand automotive test specifications and requirements.
  • Experience in vibration and mechanical shock test equipment and software is a plus
  • Understanding of lab processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of data acquisition systems and general test equipment associated with an electrical/ mechanical laboratory.
  • Excellent technical written and communication skills along with interpersonal skills that are required to interface with external and internal customers.
  • Support laboratory accreditation and lab safety efforts.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC Guide 17025 a plus.
  • Capability of creative, analytical and structured thinking with the ability to execute.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • Organization and self-motivated while working under minimum supervision.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Project)
  • Hearing protection will be needed (Noisy location)
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs or ladders, kneel, crouch and lift test fixtures up to 35 lbs regularly.

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $56K-$85K (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
