R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER II

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

As a Data Connectivity Product Development Engineer, you will be enabling improved safety, vehicle automation, and improved efficiencies based on the ability to provide data interconnects for use throughout the Industrial and Commercial Vehicle market.

We are seeking a Product Development Engineer with the skills to define customer needs for concept creation and follow through detailed design into production release.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Develop new connectors while working in a global team environment with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management, Project Management, Sales, and Finance
  
• Interact with customers to define product requirements while building strong relationships
  
• Develop an understanding of data connectivity applications and market trends within our industry including the assessment of competitive and emerging technologies
  
• Work through all phases of connector design from creation of concepts a fully validated product that satisfies customer needs while meeting internal process and cost requirements
  
• Participate in a team environment through all phases of production from initial prototypes, initial production, and fully released parts

• BS in Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years engineering experience
  
• Experience using PTC Creo or similar for small precision plastic part design
  
• Fluent in English
  
• Knowledge of Six Sigma and LEAN production techniques
  
• Experience with terminal and connector requirements & testing is a plus
  
• Experience with design for rugged environments including sealing and vibration resistance is a plus
