Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

The Staff Process Development Engineer is responsible for integrating processes relating to molded product families and supporting downstream processes. The role encompasses all TE Energy molding technologies: regular thermoplastic injection molding, LSR molding, silicone rubber molding and EPDM molding. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing processes from new product developments and sustaining of existing products while optimizing, based on new technologies in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Guidance and training of the process engineering and process technician teams to enable them to maintain continuous improvement of molding and molding maintenance productivity while maintaining absolute safety in all molding and mold maintenance activities.
  • Guidance and training of the process engineering, process technician, and mold maintenance teams in efficient and complete troubleshooting processes to reduce the time to identify and correct molding nonconformities.
  • Identifying opportunities for productivity improvement through cycle time reduction, setup time reduction, and scrap reduction and then guiding the process teams to achieve these improvements.
  • Introducing and training the process teams in new molding and mold maintenance techniques and procedures.
  • Interacting with external mold makers and mold component suppliers to strengthen their support for TE Energy’s operations.
  • Creating a comprehensive molding process transfer procedure and checklist and the training presentations necessary to assure smooth transfers of external molding operations into the TE Energy facilities and systems.
  • Guiding project teams in the introduction and integration of new molding technologies into the TE Energy facilities through installation, pilot production, and the ramp to full production.
  • Supporting project teams in the design and construction of new molds and the improvement of existing molds when refurbishment is required.
  • Developing a rigorous mold maintenance discipline and mindset for all molding technologies.
  • Developing a rigorous process for estimation of molding cycle times, mold costs, capacity analysis, and resource requirements for new molded products.
  • Knowledge of mold tooling design and principals for Design for Manufacture in relation to product integration for molding processes.
  • Research processes and markets to maintain competitive intelligence.
  • Maintain industry, technical, application knowledge and other skills to increase personal effectiveness.
  • Willingness to travel – customer visits, association presentations, field training, etc.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with 8+ years' related experience; Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years' experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Relevant process industry experience desired across one or more TE core molding technologies (thermoplastic, Cross-linked Peroxide, LSR, Silicone rubber, and EPDM)

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $105,200 - $157,800
(subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
