Job Overview
Support department manager in directing and coordinating daily shift support activities for Tool and Die Maker Apprentices including functions of the tool and die making role, tooling and machining, and manufacturing equipment such as stamping processes on assigned shift.
Responsibilities:
- Act as key contact to department manager and Operations supervision team on assigned shift to ensure good communication and information flow on status of Apprentices and assigned tasks
- Support actions and assignments to ensure conformance to TE procedures, policies, and methods.
- Support and drive all TPM, PM, Lean and 5S+1 Actions and initiatives with Apprentices on assigned shift.
- Support all TE safety initiatives within the department not limited to but including, OSHA standards, PPE compliance, S.C.A.T. resolutions, monthly training, fire/disaster drills and execution thereof.
- Ensure work is completed in an efficient timely fashion in accordance with department procedures and operation priorities.
- Support Department Manager in evaluating and verifying Apprentice performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
- Maintain records of performance, on-the-job training hours, and school schedules for each assigned Apprentice
- Attend Apprenticeship related meetings and activities and provide input including but not limited to school functions, NC Apprenticeship meetings, Apprentice Open House activities, and graduation related events.
- Supports and identifies Apprentice development and training needs and ensures training goals are obtained.
- Support and be accountable to department Apprenticeship budget, cost savings ideas, and drive continuous improvement suggestions for the Apprenticeship program.
- Engage and drive local trade schools and universities for technical support, process improvement needs and training.
- Perform training duties related to Apprenticeship including but not limited to various PM’s, troubleshooting, machine setups, tool construction, machining skills, and engineering related tasks to complete state required on-the-job training hours.
