As a Software Engineer on our team, you will help build the platform to route millions of requests to Atlassian’s cloud infrastructure & products. You will be part of a high-performing team that focuses on network microservices such as an API Gateway and Rate Limiting. Our team is passionate about scale and uses a “You Build It You Run It” approach. You will get to work on building and operating a set of high throughput low latency microservices. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholder teams across Atlassian.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
- Proficiency in any modern object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Go, etc.).
- Experience developing and operating microservices at scale.
- Proven understanding of microservices-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs.
- Passion for collaborating, tackling hard problems, and not being afraid to ask questions.
- A real appetite for learning and growing, both as a developer and teammate.
- U.S. Bachelor or higher degree, or its equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Management, or a closely related field of study.
We'd be super excited if you have:
- Experience building services from the ground up – from gathering requirements, design, build, deploy, and ownership.
- Experience with Spring Framework.
- Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience in public or private cloud offerings (preferably AWS).
- Experience using Kubernetes and Docker containers.
- Contributes to better team processes and influences team culture for the better.
