Your opportunity
As the Principal Program Officer (AO7), you will play a key leadership role in planning, coordinating and delivering QFD’s statewide capital works and maintenance programs. This position sits within the Asset Management team and leads complex project activities that ensure our facilities remain safe, functional and fit for purpose.
In this role, you will:
- Manage the planning and delivery of complex capital works and maintenance projects
- Oversee programming, scheduling and monitoring of annual maintenance and minor works programs
- Provide high-level, evidence-based advice on project design, contract management and investment decisions
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of QFD’s capital investment framework, standards and project methodologies
- Identify project risks, manage contingencies and ensure delivery against time, quality and cost parameters
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and regional representatives
- Prepare clear reports, briefs and submissions to support governance and decision-making
This role offers scope, variety and influence across a broad and critical infrastructure portfolio.
What you’ll bring
You will have:
- Experience managing complex building, construction or infrastructure projects, ideally within government or emergency services
- Strong understanding of asset management, capital delivery and governance frameworks
- The ability to provide technical and strategic advice to support high-value investment decisions
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Proven ability to lead project teams, drive outcomes and manage competing priorities effectively
Highly desirable:
- Qualifications in project management, construction, engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum three years building industry experience, including tender and estimate evaluation
- Minimum five years’ experience delivering complex capital works and maintenance projects
Mandatory:
- C Class Driver Licence (non-restricted)
