About the role:
As part of the HSE Leadership team, the HSE Lead will be accountable for leading day to day operational HSE requirements for the Lytton Refinery Turnaround and Inspection (T&I) program.
The HSE Lead is responsible for leading a team of HSE professionals (both employees and contractors) to support operational safety and will provide key partnering requirements across T&I HSE resourcing, planning, risk mitigation and safe execution of work.
Reporting to the HSE Manager, Manufacturing, the HSE Lead will be the subject matter expert in relation to safe T&I delivery and will have significant experience in project planning and execution in a manufacturing and MHF environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage onsite HSE team and ensure adequate resourcing levels for planning and execution of Turnarounds and Inspections
- Engage with the T&I leadership team to develop HSE management plans, risk mitigation strategies, training requirements and assurance schedules
- Lead and facilitate key activities nominated on the HSE key activity plan
- Liaise with the WHS regulator as directed by HSE manager and conduct independent investigations using a root cause analysis method
- Work in partnership with specialist areas to ensure robust hazard and controls are in place.
- Lead detailed risk assessments and monitor control health and provide subject matter expertise view in relation to HSE
The role is a 24 Month Maximum Term Contract based on site at Lytton Refinery, QLD and includes flexibility options dependent on scheduled delivery outcomes and stakeholder engagement requirements.
About you:
You will have a formal qualification in Safety or a related field with 7+ years of demonstrated experience leading and managing HSE within a large complex organisation in a high consequence industry or plant environment including Energy, Renewables, Petroleum, Chemical/Process or a similar.
Your experience will showcase your proficiency in the development, implementation and management of safety management plans.
You bring developed organisational skills with you and possess the capacity to be flexible in balancing priorities to meet/exceed safety requirements.
You will have a passion for eMobility technology and the drive to learn more about EV infrastructure also have proven competencies in two or more of the following: Technical documentation, demonstrable project management experience, knowledge of risk management principles and risk management systems and architecture

- Demonstrated evidence of a positive impact on safety outcomes and performance with a high intensity and time driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff in a multi-skilled team
- Proven ability to provide direction, effectively lead, manage and motivate teams, mentor and develop the skills of staff
- Gravitas, knowledge, personality and communication skills to rapidly gain credibility with managers, both internally and externally, and to influence key decisions
