The Minecraft Marketing team is looking for a Senior Gaming Product Marketing Manager to support marketing strategy, planning, execution, and coordination related to the Minecraft Marketplace for both players and creators.
The ideal candidate has expertise in product marketing strategies and activities, has managed go-to-market planning (GTM) for mobile freemium / free-to-play games with games-as-a-service components or has managed a modern-day subscription service, and has experience managing fast paced digital go-to-market campaigns. While working with a cross-functional team including engineering stakeholders, data science and creative teams, the candidate will apply marketing, creative, and analytical skills to plan, execute, measure, and iterate marketing campaigns for key marketplace content updates and services, including partnering with external agencies, partner companies and IP holders.
This role requires developing a cohesive marketing and communications strategy across all owned and paid channels, from the design / creative process to partnering with teams to manage day-to-day execution and evaluation of marketing plans designed to continually drive player acquisition / reengagement and identify opportunities to drive marketplace conversion. This candidate will work closely with the Marketplace team to understand key drivers of the Marketplace purchase funnel, and partner with team to develop campaign strategies that drive purchase conversion, coin redemption, and new player purchase.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for product branding, positioning and overall marketing strategies, for the Minecraft Marketplace, including current and future subscription services, Character Creator, Servers, and selected Licensed DLC.
- Partner with the Creator Team to define creator focused marketing and messaging on Minecraft Owned Channels to drive awareness and acquisition of new creators into the Minecraft ecosystem.
- Create, manage and implement go-to-market plan for Realms, Realms Plus subscription services and any new future subscriptions, including branding, ongoing subscription lifecycle marketing to manage acquisition, engagement and retention of subscribers.
- Author brand briefs and provide consumer, category, and brand direction to the studio, marketing, and community teams to maintain 360-degree marketing consistency across all games, platforms and channels.
- Coordinate with the Minecraft community and Minecraft Editorial team to influence Community/Editorial engagement strategy and schedule for subscription, marketplace updates, and key seasonal promotions for Marketplace.
- Provide mentorship to a college hire teammate who will partner with the candidate to create and execute marketing campaigns for Marketplace tentpole campaigns.
- Engage with Community team to define the editorial strategy for the Minecraft Marketplace Twitter account, influencing the editorial calendar and helping define post cadence and content.
- Work closely with the Marketplace and Experimental V-team to influence experimental designs for Marketplace and PDPs.
- Regularly present and report to team managers, stakeholders, and the leadership team, on marketing strategies, plans and findings.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Conduct Market Research as necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or related discipline.
- 3-5+ years of relevant experience in product marketing, product manager, producer or similar roles
- Ability to build relationships, manage stakeholders, and articulate vision/direction.
- Track record of planning and executing innovative marketing programs that generate results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional preferences:
- MBA preferred.
- Experience marketing for any types of mobile in-game economies, subscription content services or in-app purchasing mechanics.
- Energized marketer with strong marketing experience in gaming, entertainment, ecommerce or digital products strongly preferred.
- Background in defining and evaluating ROI of digital marketing initiatives.
- Experience working with modern marketing techniques, such as mobile CRM, performance marketing, programmatic advertising
- Solid artistic and design sensibilities
