The Role
Reporting to the Laboratory Team Leader, Laboratory Technicians are accountable for ensuring that analytical activities and associated tasks are conducted in a safe, professional, timely manner and in accordance with required policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous Laboratory experience and/or experience in sample preparation, ICP-AES, GF-AAS, PSD, XRF (Desirable) and classical techniques
- A qualification in a scientific or related discipline and/or Certificate IV or Diploma in Laboratory Techniques
- Quality focused with a high attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and multi-task
- Current WA Driver’s License C Class
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Be willing to undertake a pre-employment medical examination
Key Accountabilities:
- Organising assigned tasks to maximise Laboratory efficiencies
- Managing and preparing samples for analysis
- Undertaking analyses with various analytical equipment and instrumentation, as required
- Positively contributing within a team environment
- Identifying anomalies in sample type analytical results, sample type and assisting with the investigations of non-conformances
- Undertaking calibration and maintenance of equipment, consumables stock inventory control
- Mentoring inexperienced Laboratory Technicians and performing routine housekeeping and other duties, as required
