Shape Your World

At Alcoa, you will become an essential part of our purpose: to turn raw potential into real progress. The way we see it, every Alcoan is a work-shaper, team-shaper, idea-shaper & world-shaper.

This is your opportunity to help shape the future of sustainability with world-changing innovations and low-carbon technologies. Become a valued part of the team that’s shaping the future of aluminium, revolutionising the way the world lives, builds, moves and flies. Be part of it and shape your world.

About the Role

As the AI Architect, you will be the visionary spearheading the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise-grade AI solutions. Working within the ITAS Technology Strategy team, you will bridge the gap between complex business requirements and cutting-edge technology.

This is a hands-on role supporting several active projects, including the development of chatbots, advisory services, and decision-support tools. Reporting to the ITAS Enterprise Strategy Lead in Rotterdam, you will oversee the full AI lifecycle—from use case definition to continuous optimisation.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and maintain enterprise AI standards, roadmaps, and end-to-end architectures.

  • Guide teams on the application of Generative AI, LLMs, and predictive analytics.

  • Develop Azure-based platform architectures and blueprints using a "Secure by design" approach.

  • Embed responsible AI practices, risk management, and security compliance into every solution.

  • Collaborate with a global team of Architects to ensure "fit-by-design" solution definitions.

  • Educate business leaders on AI capabilities to prioritise high-impact initiatives.

What’s on offer

  • Attractive remuneration and variable bonus plan.

  • Flexible hybrid working options available.

  • Employee growth and development opportunities.

  • Parental leave support for all caregivers.

What you can bring to the role

Critical Technical Skills:

  • Python, ML and GenAI frameworks, and cloud AI platforms (Azure).

  • Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Databricks, LLMOps, and MLOps tooling.

  • AKS (functional deployment), microservices, containerisation, and data engineering frameworks.

  • Deep understanding of Data Architecture (Data Lake, Lakehouse), enterprise integration (API design, event-driven architecture), and AI Governance.

Experience and Education:

  • Tertiary degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering.

  • Proven experience deploying large-scale AI solutions.

  • Strong stakeholder management and the ability to engage with global teams across various time zones.

  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on coaching others and sharing technical expertise.

You will join a highly collaborative core team of four Domain Architects (Application, Integration, Data, and Technology). You will be supported by an extended global group of 12 members in Rotterdam and 2 in Perth. Our management style is proactive and partner-focused, valuing shared brainstorming and a willingness to challenge the status quo to deliver value.

We are seeking a collaborative individual who thrives in a high‑performance, inclusive environment and can effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. We are open to considering suitably qualified candidates based in Perth, WA or Rotterdam, with flexible work‑from‑home arrangements available.

Additional information
