About the job
Are you an experienced and motivated Geologist who is ready to take the next step in your mining career? This is an exciting leadership opportunity for you to join us as a Senior Geologist within the Technical Services Business Improvement team who are primarily based at the WA Mining Hub in Pinjarra, supporting our mining operations in Western Australia, Huntly and Willowdale.
In this role, you will be assisting the Medium-Term Planning (MTP) group by providing leadership in the areas of resource and grade control modelling activities and delivery of geological inputs to the mine planning process. This includes supervision of a team of geologists to coordinate drill planning and completion of grade control modelling, and geological oversight of ongoing grade/assay relationships applied to both medium- and short-term planning outcomes. In conjunction with the MTP Principal, you will also be responsible for setting the geological strategy required to support the broader aims of the MTP group including delivery of the mine’s performance targets and maximising the value of the resource.
About you
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology/Mining Geology or related discipline
Consolidated experience in large open cut and/or underground mining operations with demonstrated experience in grade control, resource estimation and modelling and geostatistical analysis.
Strong problem solving, lateral thinking and analytical skills with demonstrated experience in technical leadership
An ability to present and influence a wide audience
Effective communication and interpersonal skills within multi-disciplinary technical teams
Demonstrated ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders including senior management, technical professionals, and operational personnel at a senior level
Demonstrated track record to take ownership of the work and developing continuous improvement ideas
A reputation among peers for technical excellence; strong leadership and communication skills are essential
