About the job
At Alcoa, we are focused on reducing our operational footprint and improving our environmental performance as we continue to expand and upgrade our operations. With various exciting and innovative capital projects on the go, we are on the lookout for a quality driven Contracts Manager to support us in the delivery of a diverse capital project portfolio.
Reporting into our Senior Manager – Global Capital Procurement, in this role you will drive the strategy development and execution of our major contracts with involvement throughout the project life cycle from front end development through to execution and post project review, guiding project teams on commercial considerations of the contracts. In addition, your key contributions will be:
Acting as Alcoa’s representative and making timely decisions on Alcoa’s behalf within the bounds of the contracts and protecting Alcoa’s interests.
Working closely with Project Managers and Project team located at the project offices to deliver the project successfully and present strategies and actions on commercial contractual risks.
Leading the development of assigned Project Procurement and Contracting Strategies.
Proactively communicating with the suppliers on behalf of Alcoa to enable suppliers to execute the contract scopes of work in accordance with the contract (including but not limited to the relevant legislation, Alcoa E&HS policies, technical specifications, engineering standards, project schedule, plant performance criteria) and any other requirements agreed between Alcoa and the suppliers.
Identifying and reporting on all Alcoa and supplier obligations in the contracts at Project, Steering Committee and Senior Panel Level for the term of the contracts.
Initiating, drafting and executing all contract amendments in accordance with Alcoa contract approval policy engaging the required subject matter experts, if required (Engineering, Process, Construction, Legal, Risk, Operations, Project Management, Cost Control etc.) for supporting information.
Assessing and leading contractual remedial initiatives including dispute resolution and escalation processes defined in the contracts.
Proactively identifying potential contractual / commercial issues as soon as possible via regular site inspections to understand contract progress first hand.
As for your primary location, you will have the opportunity to base yourself from either our HQ in Booragoon or our Bindjareb office in Pinjarra whilst utilising our Flexibility First work model that supports a hybrid approach to balance the days working from home and in the office.
About you
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Law or equivalent in construction related field is required.
A strong background in contract management, successfully having managed an EPC, Design & Construct, Construction or Major Civil contracts within a similar industry.
Demonstrated attention to detail with a solution focused mindset and driven by results.
Well-developed negotiating, critical thinking, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills is a must.
