We have a rare and new opportunity for an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join our Huntly Mine maintenance department. Working on a 10.3 hr days only roster, this role offers you the chance to obtain true work life balance with a long weekend every second weekend and the luxury of returning home at the end of each day.

In this unique leadership role, you will be responsible for developing effective Electrical work plans using a standardised planning process, as well as providing Electrical and Water crew leadership. Maintain the sites electrical and water transmission and distribution along with the treatment of wastewater.

You will be involved in daily and weekly planning and the development of the electrical plan each week to ensure the business needs are met. This will include developing costed work packs which contain detailed work scope, resource requirements (including labour and equipment) and parts / materials management.

As a Supervisor at Alcoa you will be responsible for crew safety, work performance and people development of the Electrical maintenance teams, ensuring they are properly trained and aligned to the mines business goals.

You will coach the crew to become an effective semi-autonomous work group that can make informed decisions to manage their own safety performance, work output, cost control, reporting and problem solving.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • As a minimum you will possess an Electrical or Electrical/Instrumentation trade background (or equivalent) and have significant experience applying trade skills in a continuous processing/mining environment.

  • You must be able to demonstrate a successful history of planning, scheduling and executing electrical planned maintenance, preferably within a computerised maintenance planning system.

  • Well-developed communication skills are essential to enable you to co-ordinate the Electrical maintenance team, negotiate issues and prioritise workload with your peers, other supervisory staff and senior management.

  • Previous experience with potable, Process, fire and wastewater treatment, sanitisation, filtration, and management.

  • Previous experience supervising multidisciplined teams including contractors in a mining environment, with a sound knowledge of the requirements of section 44 of the Mines regulations.

  • High Voltage switching ticket or the desire to obtain one, and demonstrated experience conducting High voltage switching operations is highly desirable.

  • Experience with dissolved air floatation plants, liquid chemical dosing, aerobic treatment units, Water quality monitoring and metering, mine dewatering, Automated particulate screens, and water pump maintenance will be highly regarded.

  • A proven record of accomplishment in the safe operation and maintenance of high voltage distribution systems, which may include circuit breakers, distribution transformers and overhead powerlines, is also highly desirable.
