About the Role:
At Alcoa our Medium-Term Planning Engineers (Mining Engineers) are responsible for researching and determining the feasibility of our mining operations. As a Mine Engineer you will provide plans and technical input to the technical services department supporting the site to meet performance targets and utilising your initiative to seek out ways of ensuring continuous improvements are made. The role drives planning at the mine and is focused on carrying out detailed analysis and alignment for development, production and rehabilitation schedules.
This position is Monday to Friday 8 hr days, with a paid leisure day off every month, we could also look at compressed working weeks, and can offer 1 day a week working remotely, with flexible start and finish times.
Key aspects of the role include:
Providing robust mine planning services to meet monthly, annual, and long term mine production targets.
Advising on how to optimise the value of the mine resources.
Provide detail to the Senior Mining Engineer to monitor and manage the performance of the mine site against the plan.
Communicate with stakeholders to ensure all levels of the mine plans and schedules are interpreted effectively.
Grade variance monitoring and contingency planning.
Collaborative with other Technical Services team members to ensure delivery of the site strategy, 3 months, 36-month plan and annual plan.
Coordinate planned development, production, and rehabilitation schedule with adherence to quality and health and safety procedures.
Grade control coverage when required.

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Degree qualified in Mining Engineering or similar.
Ability to demonstrate experience of working in large open cut mining environments.
Strong problem solving, lateral thinking and analytical skills.
Knowledge of Mindsight would be highly desirable or experience of other mine planning tools.
Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Experience in short-term or medium-term planning (ideally) or similar experience within mine design.
