About the Role:

This role manages and coordinates capital projects at Huntly and Willowdale mines, providing technical direction and leadership for optimal front-end loading and will be based out of the Mining Hub, Pinjarra Refinery. The Capital Project Engineer leads Asset Owner teams, ensuring safe and successful execution of engineering projects, maintaining control of capital funding, and achieving timely, cost-effective project outcomes. Responsibilities include project planning, Front End Loading (FEL) development, contracting strategies, contractor safety management, implementation, dry commissioning, and project closure.

You will;

• Lead the development and implementation of a total safety culture for each project.

• Role model desired safety behaviours and ensure that all project activities adhere to Alcoa's safety philosophy, procedures, and objectives.

• Develop project plans for Design, Project Controls, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Handover.

• Oversee the quality, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness of these plans with input from key stakeholders

• Provide regular monthly updates on project progress, managing the change control process efficiently.

• Conduct design, safety, environmental, and risk review sessions with key stakeholders to ensure projects align with RFA approval criteria.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

• Engineering Degree (mechanical / electrical /Structural - Civil). Post Graduate Business or project management studies favourable.

• 5+ years experience in an engineering field with project management experience. Capital Program experience is desirable

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia and it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra and Kwinana alumina refineries. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
