  • Lead the commercial strategy and performance of our East Coast channel partner portfolio
  • Optimise sales, margin, retention, customer value, quality and compliance outcomes
  • Enjoy hybrid working, energy discounts and career growth opportunities

Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.

We understand that flexibility matters when considering your next role. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll carefully consider how we might accommodate them.

Ready to make a real impact?

Join our Retail Commercial team and take ownership of the commercial strategy and performance of Alinta Energy’s East Coast channel partner portfolio. As Sales Performance Manager (East Coast), you will translate Retail growth, customer and profitability objectives into clear portfolio priorities, performance expectations and executable partner plans. You will use sales, margin, cancellation, churn, retention, customer lifetime value, quality, compliance and cost-to-acquire insights to identify risks, opportunities and the interventions needed to improve portfolio value.

As the senior commercial relationship owner for strategically important channel partners, you will lead partner reviews, commercial negotiations and complex performance discussions. You will determine where Alinta Energy should invest, grow, optimise, renegotiate or exit partner relationships, while overseeing governance, contract renewals, due diligence, material variations and the sustainable remediation of commercial, regulatory, conduct and reputational risks.

This is a hands-on people leadership role with four direct reports. You will own the portfolio business plan, budget and commercial outlook; provide concise, decision-oriented recommendations to senior leaders; and work across Sales Operations, Product, Pricing, Marketing, Customer, Finance, Legal, Risk and Compliance to improve customer outcomes and long-term portfolio economics.

Why you’ll love working here

At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia — and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility, and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.

There are plenty of other great benefits of working for Alinta Energy, including flexible working, energy discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a paid volunteer day each year, fully stocked kitchens, and lots more.

What you’ll do

  • Set and lead the commercial strategy for the East Coast channel partner portfolio, aligned with Retail growth, customer and profitability objectives
  • Own portfolio performance across sales, margin, cancellations, churn, retention, customer lifetime value, quality, compliance and cost-to-acquire outcomes
  • Lead forecasting, partner performance reviews and corrective action planning, ensuring material variances, risks and opportunities are understood and addressed
  • Act as the senior commercial relationship owner for strategic partners, leading executive reviews, negotiations and complex or escalated matters
  • Determine where to invest, grow, optimise, renegotiate or exit partner relationships based on strategic value, customer outcomes, risk and return on investment
  • Lead or sponsor partner governance, contract renewals, due diligence and material variations in partnership with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Operations
  • Own the portfolio business plan, budget and commercial outlook, including partner expenditure, commissions, commercial commitments and business cases
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of four, while providing decision-oriented portfolio advice to executive and senior leadership forums

Your experience

  • A proven track record of successful channel management in energy or another highly competitive retail sector
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including setting clear expectations and developing commercial, analytical, negotiation and strategic capability
  • Strong commercial and financial judgement, with the ability to connect sales, margin, customer value, channel costs, risk and return on investment
  • Experience leading portfolio forecasting, performance reporting and corrective action planning against financial and customer targets
  • Proven executive stakeholder, partner relationship, negotiation and influencing capability, including resolving complex or escalated commercial matters
  • Sound understanding of contracts and deal terms, with experience in renewals, due diligence, material variations, budgets and business cases
  • A strategic, highly organised and self-directed approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong problem-solving capability, a customer-focused mindset and willingness to travel interstate

Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.

You will suit this role if you combine strategic commercial leadership with a practical, hands-on approach and can turn portfolio insights into clear decisions and action. Experience in energy is preferred, although substantial channel management experience in another highly competitive retail sector may also be relevant.
