About the Role:

We are currently seeking a Planning & Environment Advisor to join our Asset Strategy team, reporting to the Project Development Manager. The role will be responsible for providing key inputs and advice into the development of projects at Alinta. You will be managing the environment, tenure and statutory approval requirements for new projects. This role will understand the interaction between technical requirements and design elements of project infrastructure and stakeholder and regulatory requirements for a project.

The role will also identify the gaps/conflicts between technical and contractual positions and legislation requirements, negotiated agreements and the views held by key stakeholders. You will assist the Strategic and Business Development functions to identify, access and pursue new projects.

Duties:

  • Support the business development during ideation, pre-feasibility and feasibility study phases for prospective development projects
  • Implement innovative land access, statutory approval and impact mitigation strategies for greenfield and brownfield development projects
  • Manage impact assessment studies and prepare applications for statutory approvals
  • Engage with First Nations groups to manage Native Title and Indigenous Heritage aspects of development projects
  • Contribute to the preparation and detailed review of EPC contract documentation as required
  • Engage with landowners, utilities, state government departments and other land interest holders to negotiate land access agreements and licences.

Skills & Experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (for example Environmental Science, Construction, Sustainability, Surveying)
  • Experience in a similar role in mining, construction or with energy projects
  • First hand experience navigating and federal planning and environmental laws and regulations with demonstrated results
  • Project development or project management experience on infrastructure projects from $10m to $100m+.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with capacity to influence and negotiate
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and direct multiple workstreams, consultants or contractors
  • Experience in Indigenous relationships, Indigenous engagement and heritage management
