About the role
Join Alinta Energy’s Retail Finance team to manage accounting and analysis for East Coast mass market electricity and gas segments. This role ensures accurate month-end delivery, analytical review of segment results, and reporting aligned with business-critical factors. You’ll collaborate with Group Finance (Financial Control, Treasury, Tax), Retail Finance (Business Performance, Partnering, Assurance), and internal/external auditors. You will also lead one direct report, the Finance Reconciliation Officer, ensuring compliance and efficiency across processes.

What you’ll do
- Deliver accurate and timely month-end processes, including journals and reconciliations for retail electricity and gas segments.
- Analyse segment results and trends, preparing financial reports and insights to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with Group Finance, Retail Finance teams, and internal/external auditors to meet compliance and reporting requirements.
- Manage and develop one direct report (Finance Reconciliation Officer), ensuring effective reconciliation and strong controls.
- Drive process improvements, maintain governance, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Your experience
- Experience in a similar Senior Financial Accountant role.
- Tertiary qualification in either Accounting or Commerce and a completed accounting qualification (CA, CPA or CIMA).
- Strong financial accounting and analytical skills, with experience reviewing segment results and trends.
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across multiple teams.
- Leadership capability to manage and develop a direct report effectively.
