At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Ready for your next career move? Alstom is hiring Buyers in Victoria, with two permanent roles available at our Ballarat and Dandenong Manufacturing sites—giving you the freedom to choose your preferred location.

Take on a new challenge and apply your procurement and negotiation expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and forward-thinking teammates.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth procurement of goods and services that are critical to our operations. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (e.g., engineering, supply chain, and project management), negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best value, and ensure compliance with company policies and standards.

You’ll specifically take care of supplier selection and contract management, but also contribute to cost optimization strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage specific supplier panel relationship including negotiation and specific agreements and performances
  • Active participation to commodity strategy and panel elaboration
  • Support of Commodity Manager in tender phase
  • Represent the commodities towards projects, platforms and solutions.
  • Preparation and launch of Request For Quotation with suppliers using the standard tool
  • Monitor sourcing project QCDT & legal project evolution (FAI, Business Award, Product development)
  • Apply a detailed knowledge of SAP to manage and record the sourcing activities

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Experience or understanding of procurement processes and supplier management
  • Knowledge of contract negotiation and management
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and procurement tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
