At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 85,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your Training expertise in a new cutting-edge field. Based in Wulkuraka, QLD, you'll play a critical role in leading the training activities for the Wulkuraka Maintenance Facility. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business to strategically lead the Training function for the site, with the support of a dedicated Training team. This position is a 12 month fixed-term contract, with an immediate start. We’ll look to you for:

  • Leading and developing a high-performing team of training coordinators to build technical capability across the QNGR workforce.
  • Driving delivery of mechanical and electrical training programs across classroom, virtual and hands-on environments.
  • Designing and delivering practical training directly on the shop floor, adapting to operational needs and varying skill levels.
  • Creating and continuously improve industry-relevant training materials aligned to real-world depot and fleet requirements.
  • Assessing competency in live operational environments, ensuring safety, compliance and technical excellence.
  • Supporting employee progression and regrading, providing expert assessment, guidance and validation of skills.
  • Building strong relationships on the shop floor, acting as a trusted coach to uplift capability and performance.
  • Championing safety leadership, promoting best practice and proactively identifying training gaps in high-risk environments.
  • Ensuring training compliance and administration excellence, maintaining accurate, audit-ready records and systems.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and big-picture mindset, with the agility to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Driven, proactive leader with proven experience managing teams, developing people, and delivering results.
  • Experience supporting or managing apprenticeship programs, with a passion for developing early-career talent and capability building.
  • Experience within a similar role, leading a Training Function within an operational/trade environment.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Play a critical role in supporting the safe operation of trains for QLD.
  • Have the opportunity to develop your career in global industry leader.
  • Have access to a free corporate gym membership.
  • Receive free salary continuity insurance.
  • Be eligible for additional leave days.
  • Have free access to Alstom University (1000’s of courses and learning material).

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
