At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.

More Than a Job: A Mission

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Fleet Manager to lead the performance, reliability, and safety of the rolling stock fleet for our Gold Coast Light Rail contract. Based in Southport, QLD, this is a critical leadership role where you will drive operational excellence, foster a high-performing team culture, and ensure our fleet consistently delivers safe, reliable, and efficient services for the community.

Reporting to the Services Director - QLD, you will be accountable for the strategic and operational management of fleet engineering, maintenance performance, asset reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will lead multidisciplinary teams to optimise fleet availability, manage risk and compliance obligations, and champion innovation to enhance operational outcomes.

Working collaboratively with key stakeholders across the business, customers, and industry partners, you will develop team capability, strengthen engineering and maintenance practices, and deliver sustainable, cost-effective solutions that support long-term contract success. With safety at the heart of everything you do, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Gold Coast Light Rail fleet continues to meet the highest standards of performance and service delivery.

Your Role, Your Impact

  • Providing strategic leadership across fleet operations, engineering, and maintenance functions.
  • Driving a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and high performance.
  • Setting the vision and direction for a diverse, cross-functional workforce.
  • Leading customer and external stakeholder partnerships, to deliver exceptional contract outcomes.
  • Owning contract performance, commercial obligations, and customer commitments.
  • Championing safety, risk management, and continuous improvement through innovative fleet solutions and service enhancements.
  • Building organisational capability through leadership, coaching, and talent development.
  • Fostering collaboration across stakeholders to achieve strategic and operational success.

What You Bring

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Commercially astute with experience managing contractual obligations and performance outcomes.
  • Agile and adaptable, with the ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic operational environment.
  • A collaborative, people-focused leader with demonstrated success building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and business performance.
  • Project/operational management experience, ideally within rolling stock or similar environments.

How Success Is Measured

  • Achievement of fleet availability and reliability targets aligned with strategic goals.
  • Effective collaboration and leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reduction in unplanned downtime and improvement in maintenance efficiency.
  • Delivery of operational and financial targets through opportunity maximisation and budget management.

Alstom, A Great Place to Grow

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a critical rail operation for Queensland.
  • A critical leadership role where you will shape and develop a high-performing team.
  • Access continuous learning and leadership development opportunities within a global network.
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Free salary continuance insurance.
  • Additional leave days and the option to purchase extra leave.
  • Salary packaging and novated leasing options.

Here, progress isn't always easy but the impact is real. Because the scale is massive, the tasks are complex when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
