Primary Responsibilities
- Carry out the PI Engineering functions for new vehicle deliveries in accordance with the Alstom guidelines and processes.
- Provide PI input into tenders as and when required.
- Ensure PI function is adequately represented on the respective Project Core Teams and participate inproject reviews, gate reviews, design reviews etc as required.
- Provide PI input to the various project functions in a manner that ensures PI requirements are integratedinto the vehicle design and procurement.
- Work closely with the Supply function to ensure PI requirements are flowed down to key suppliers.
- Ensure that any specific design for maintenance requirements are considered during the design phase.
- Where a Alstom maintenance contract exists, the PI function will represent the maintenancefunction/requirements during the early project phases until the dedicated maintenance team is put inplace.
- Ensure all requisite PI deliverables such as test plans, manuals, training packages, special tools, sparesetc are delivered on time and in a form acceptable to the end user/customer.
- Initiate the PI activities in a manner that takes account of the project budget at all times.
- Monitor the PI costs against the agreed budget and provide accurate forecasts as and when required.
- Carry out the vehicle acceptance activities in accordance with the project requirements.
- Provide input to monthly reports to management on PI status and issues.
- Develop PI Plans, Procedures and Work Instructions as required for the successful and timelycompletion of all PI activities.
- Develop and mentor PI staff as and when required to establish a competent PI function with Alstom.
- Implementation and adherence to all corporate policies including OH&S and Quality.
- Oversee the reliability of any new fleet introduced into service.
Key Requirements
- Relevant Engineering Qualification - preference for Electrical Systems
- Service, design and/or commissioning experience on rail vehicles
- Some formal design and calculation ability.
- A general level of fault finding and trouble shooting experience in structural, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Application of preventative maintenance strategies based on failure predictions and other statisticaltools.
- Preparation of standards, maintenance schedules, maintenance instructions, fault reports and otherdocuments
- Some experience and understanding of the interface between electrical, mechanical and pneumatic equipment on rail vehicles
- Reliability of any new fleet introduced into service.
