Alstom’s V/Line Maintenance project is responsible for the management of the maintenance of the V/Line Rolling Stock Fleet. As a Material Planner in the Classic Fleet Supply Chain team, you will be assisting to maintain V/Line’s Classic Fleet of 1950s-1990s built locomotives, carriages and Sprinter DMUs. These trains are a key part of the V/Line Fleet, transporting passengers throughout regional Victoria.
The Classic Supply Chain team are based at our West Melbourne Depot, they provide support to the Alstom Maintenance team and V/Line. This role is ideal for an experienced Procurement professional who has worked in a similar role, with highly developed communication skills, who can draw upon their procurement knowledge, supply chain and problem solving skills to improve maintain stock availability.
This is initially a 6 month contract with the possibility of being extended. Alstom offers a great career pathway platform which you will be able to explore many other opportunities post the 6 month completion!
Key responsibilities:
- Creation of RFQs for ordering of materials
- Express delivery needs to Suppliers using the dedicated tools
- Follow up deliveries and ensure the availability of goods for Alstom projects
- Ordering and Planning of material according to company requirements
- Participate/lead Supplier's performances improvement
- Contribute to the project Supply Chain objectives and targets by ensuring material planning and ERP settings are in line with these objectives
- Ensuring all planned and ad-hoc procurement requirements get fulfilled.
Key requirements / skills
- Previous experience in a similar role in rail, manufacturing or engineering industry is preferred
- Demonstrated experience in a similar procurement role
- Relevant experience working with excel, able to read and understand reports.
- Good time management skills, ensuring all orders get fulfilled on time
- Team player, assisting Supply Chain team with daily department duties and meetings
- A desire to continuously improve yourself and the environment around you
