The Opportunity
An opportunity has become available to join Alstom at one of our key service/maintenance depots at the West Melbourne Maintenance Facility (WMD). The team at the WMD play a critical role in ensuring the V/Line fleet is maintained, serviced, and repaired and operating to the highest standard. The V/Line Maintenance Project also includes sites at South Dynon, Southern Cross, Geelong, and Ballarat.
Joining the team as an EHS & Rail Safety Coordinator, you will aid in the management of business EHS & Rail Safety risks and engage personnel at all levels in fostering a high-performance Environment, Health, Safety and Rail Safety culture. The role will be integral in sustaining the Australian Transport business's EHS & Rail Safety performance by implementing and maintaining EHS & Rail Safety initiatives, codes of practice, policies, and risk management strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining the EHS& Rail Safety management plans for the Project
- Undertaking independent project systems audits and develop and monitor safety performance indicators across all sites
- Ensuring consultation & communication activities are being undertaken on the project
- Supporting key safety governance committees as required including the Project Safety Leadership Team
- EHS Risk Management - Participate in the development and maintaining of Project Risk Registers
- Safety Governance of high-risk work for the Alstom Zero Deviation Policy by conducting Self Assessments
- Management of Workers Compensation Return to Work for Injured employees, maintain case files, return to work plans
- Delivering training packages for key safety management procedures or specific training required due to the introduction of new procedures, policies, and standards.
- Incident Reporting and Investigation
- Experience in mental health coordination would be advantageous

Key Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Safety professional with a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and provide critical safety guidance and support to the business. You will also have;
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience in a similar role, ideally within Rail or Heavy Industry
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS
- Cert IV Training & Assessment (Preferred)
- Construction Induction White Card (Preferred)
