The Opportunity
Located in Melbourne, Victoria, our Engineering division is seeking the expertise and passion of a competent rolling stock professional, to be responsible for customer technical management across all projected executed in Melbourne. As Head of Front Office Melbourne – Rolling Stock, this position is responsible for developing and managing the bridge between the customer, in front office, the front office delivery team and the remote development team across assigned projects. A key member of the leadership team, the main accountabilities include;
- ensuring that the product being developed remotely will fulfill customer and regulatory requirements with respects to the contractual scope (based on “as sold”) and according to the project QCD commitments
- cultivating and maintaining a healthy, collaborative customer relationship
- acts as front office with customer with direct oversight of all Melbourne project based technical deliveries, ensuring clear accountability, competency and capacity of project Customer Technical Interface Managers
- interfacing with the customer to oversee key technical meetings and reviews with the remote development team and in appropriate time with consideration of the project schedule, negotiate and clarify technical contract requirements and ensure that engineering solution and delivery will satisfy customer / final users’ concerns
- interfacing with delivery teams to oversee the competency and capacity planning for the onshore technical delivery team and ensure an effective relationship between parties and;
- interfacing with the remote development teams to develop and maintain effective delivery focused, get the right level of expertise to support technical meetings / reviews with customer and oversee contractual deliverables with respect to commitments.
The position sees our successful incumbent acting as mediator between our customer, front office delivery teams and the remote project development team and will require exceptional, proven interpersonal, negotiation and networking skills that drive open communication and collaboration.
Skills and Experience being sought
- Extensive knowledge of Rolling Stock products, projects, systems and ideally, local stakeholder groups
- Proven operational experience managing the interface between key stakeholder groups, strengthening relationships and achieving outcomes that address priorities and build trust between parties
- A natural collaborator and communicator with interest and confidence to anticipate and address matters and coordinate and deliver appropriate progress updates.
