Could you be the Bid Cost Engineer/Controller based in our North Ryde, Sydney office that we're looking for?

Your future role:

We are currently seeking a Bid Cost Engineer/Controller to join our Bid Team based in our head office in Macquarie Park, Sydney. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, leading and managing all costing and pricing aspects of a tender within the tender team, with the support of the various subject matter experts. This is an exciting position for you to take a role in delivering winning bids and have a real impact within a market leading Rail Solutions provider.

We'll look to you for:

  • Preparing costing during pre-tendering phase, based on product cost databases and/or previous tenders.
  • Supporting the Bid Manager in the preparation of the IFQ (Instruction For Quotation) in accordance with pricing strategy.
  • Defining the cost structure for the bid according to RFP (scope, price breakdown etc.).
  • Defining target cost per work package, matching with the winning price.
  • Leading cost estimation activities based on target cost approach with all participating units and Work Package Owners.
  • Leading cost improvement actions to reach tender cost /target price using all competitiveness levers, and challenge the contributors.


All about you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Commerce, Business or Finance.
  • Previous experience working in a rail transport or infrastructure project environment is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with partners at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability in influence teams to meet tight delivery schedules.
  • Strong analytical skills to challenge contributor’s commitments.
