At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Are you a commercially minded legal professional who enjoys working at the intersection of law, procurement and complex infrastructure projects? Join Alstom as our Senior Legal Counsel – Procurement, where you’ll play a critical role supporting a global organisation at the forefront of sustainable mobility.

In this senior role, you’ll partner closely with the business, the procurement community and the VP Legal Procurement, providing strategic legal advice on supplier and subcontractor matters while helping to shape ethical, compliant and commercially sound outcomes across the organisation.

Your future role

You will be a trusted advisor to the business, supporting procurement activities across the full contract lifecycle. You will work on high‑value, complex matters in a dynamic international environment, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.:

What you'll do

  • Advise on legal and contractual matters across procurement activities, products and services
  • Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial and international contracts
  • Manage claims, disputes and risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Partner closely with procurement and business leaders to support strategic initiatives
  • Lead selected negotiations and manage external legal advisors
  • Promote the Alstom Code of Ethics and deliver legal training to the procurement community

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Law degree from Australia or another common law jurisdiction
  • 7–10 years’ post‑qualification experience in-house or in a leading law firm
  • Strong expertise in contract and commercial law, including international contracts
  • Experience supporting procurement activities (highly regarded)
  • Confident communicator with a practical, business‑focused mindset
  • Experience in rail, infrastructure or major projects is an advantage

Join us and be part of a global team committed to innovation, integrity and sustainable mobility.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career
  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues
  • Contribute to innovative projects
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning

Senior Legal Counsel supporting Alstom’s procurement function across complex, global infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a commercially minded lawyer who values collaboration, integrity and impact, and enjoys working closely with diverse stakeholders to achieve balanced, sustainable outcomes.

Working in a supportive, inclusive environment, you will lead selected negotiations, engage external advisors, share knowledge through legal training, and actively promote the Alstom Code of Ethics. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, build strong partnerships, and grow your career while helping shape the future of sustainable mobility.

  • Flexible and hybrid working to support different life stages, caring responsibilities and work‑life balance
  • Generous paid parental leave and family‑friendly policies that support you before, during and after time away from work
  • A supportive, inclusive culture where collaboration, respect and integrity are at the core of how we work
  • Access to wellbeing initiatives, a dedicated Employee Assistance Program, and an annual wellbeing day
  • Opportunities to rebuild momentum with confidence, including training, knowledge‑sharing and strong peer support
