Amazon’s Global Military Affairs team is seeking a delivery-oriented Program Manager to join our team in Australia. Our Program Manager should be a passionate customer advocate for the Defence Force community in Australia and New Zealand.
Key job responsibilities
- Work independently to manage difficult, cross functional projects and programs around employment, onboarding and employee engagement.
- Partner with stakeholders to secure resources, scope efforts, set priorities, milestones and drive delivery.
- Transfer raw thoughts into clear, consistent accurate documentation or direction, with a path for implementation.
- Represent processes and goals to customers and other teams that support veteran employment, engagement and inclusion.
- Drive crisp and timely decisions, identify and clear blockers and escalate problems appropriately.
- Improve team processes and metrics.
- Communicate effectively, both written and oral, to provide concise summaries to a diverse range of leadership teams across the ANZ Amazon business.
- Represent Amazon at hiring events and other community based forums (both in person and virtual) — plan and execute employment and community engagement events.
About the team
The Global Military Affairs (GMA) team obsesses about our customers, who are military service members and their spouses. GMA is a central Program Management Office that identifies critical challenges facing the defence force community, develops solutions, and delivers results through a programmatic structure. GMA also seeks out best practices and scales these proven solutions to resolve problems before they surface broadly. GMA serves as the hub of a hub-and-spoke model, building support relationships across all Amazon businesses to deliver by, with and through business partners. We focus on three strategic military priorities: 1) Talent Acquisition; 2) Workforce Development; and 3) Community Engagement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- Knowledge of, and experience in, the Defence Forces, veteran or Defence spouse community
- Structured thinking and strong analytical skills; can work with data and also identity root causes, recognize patterns, and solve problems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to earn trust and communicate at all levels and disciplines within and outside the organization.
- Experience in recruitment or other HR processes.
- Experience delivering effective decision briefs to leaders across various business and functional groups.
- Collaborative team player with a strong drive to create a positive and equitable work environment.
- Track record of thought leadership, strategic thinking, and operating in ambiguous situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
