Role description:

Arcadis has an opportunity for a Technical Director - Pavements to join our National Pavements team in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane. This role is required to support our growing team, delivering a significant pipeline of work across projects nationally. This role opportunity is flexible with opportunity for full time, part time or casual to suit the right candidate.

Role accountabilities:

• Providing both technical leadership and technical advice on pavement design as part of the temporary works and permanent works design development throughout the project lifecycle from concept design, detailed design through to construction phase services and asset management;
• Developing and producing flexible and rigid pavement thickness designs, rigid pavement detailing and jointing layouts, pavement interface and edge detailing, subsurface drainage details and plans;
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Representing Arcadis within the wider industry as an ambassador of our capabilities in the market
• Working in collaboration with other design teams and disciplines to ensure the integrity and quality of the overall design; and
• Meeting project deadlines and ensuring that commitments and expectations are met.

Qualifications & Experience:

First and foremost, you share our passion for improving the quality of life and want to be part of city-shaping projects that change the way we move around our cities. You are a registered or accredited professional with extensive experience in major project delivery and will come to us with:

• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent professional accreditation. Post-graduate qualifications would be an advantage; 
• Approximately 20+ years’ relevant Australian experience in all forms of pavement design including flexible and rigid pavement types for highways, ports, intermodals, airports, commercial and residential developments; 
• Expertise in pavement evaluation and rehabilitation design is an advantage but not essential;
• Expertise in pavement materials is an advantage but not essential;
• Passion to drive innovation and improvement in pavement design solutions;
• Membership of key industry bodies and technical panels;
• Expertise in ensuring high-quality delivery of design drawings and design reports; 
• Excellent client-focus and a sound technical know-how; 
• Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and team members; 
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small team, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills; and 
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally.
