About the role:
Reporting to the Operations Manager - Central Region, the Terminal Manager’s primary purpose is to provide safe co-ordination and optimisation of terminal operations at Darwin and Katherine to meet customer needs and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a culture of zero injuries by ensuring all staff operate safely and comply with Company policies and procedures
- Ensure Terminal operational services are co-ordinated safely, economically and efficiently in accordance with transport specifications, maintenance programmes and business requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with direct reports and customers in order to meet business goals.
- Co-ordinate staff to optimise the use of human and material resources to achieve business objectives.
- Attend and investigate incidents within the area of control and initiate primary direction.
- Make recommendations, conduct efficiency tests/audits and initiate action to both prevent unsafe acts and to continuously improve safe rail operations.
About you:
To be successful you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Proven commitment to safety.
- Experience with or capability to lead and manage small teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including direct customer contact.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong decision-making skills, often under pressure.
- Ability to identify and work through problems.
