About the role: Trainee Network Controllers undertake an 8-month Traineeship to receive a nationally accredited certification to become a Network Controller. As a Trainee you will learn and work on the job with experienced Controllers and Superintendents to undertake the necessary training to achieve all Network Controller Qualifications.
What do Network Controllers actually do? You are responsible to manage 2,670-kilometre multi-user track, Australia’s largest coal export network. Managing services to more than 50 mines and 5 major export ports, plus many domestic consumers, the Central Queensland Coal Network is a pivotal component to Queensland’s coal industry. Coordinate timely response to incidents or accidents that happen within the Aurizon rail corridor whilst adhering to Aurizon’s Safety and Safeworking Principals. Network Control, as practised by Aurizon as a Rail Infrastructure Manager, utilises and monitors a system of Safeworking that maintains- safe separation of rail traffic within the Network; and safe separation of rail traffic from workers working in the Danger Zone. You will be working with a range of people and differing business units within Aurizon.
About you: A key component of the role is the ability to remain alert and apply multiple contingency plans at the same time when required. We are looking for individuals who can excel in an exciting, 24/7 fast-paced rail environment.
