Remuneration: $70,017 - $97,266 + OT + Super
In this role you will provide sound guidance as experienced Ultrasonic Tester to join our Civil Infrastructure team at the Rockhampton depot. We are a great team and Rockhampton and the surrounding beaches has a lot to offer!
Responsibilities
- Conduct field tests on suspect pieces of rail for defects within the railway infrastructure and reporting in conformity with relevant standards
- Classify, size and report rail defects found and submit reports on the outcomes of testing
- Arrange emergency speed restrictions for defective rails found during testing and notify urgent repair requirements to relevant stakeholders
- Arrange and coordinate daily plans, conduct local track inspections, and record results into the defect management system
- Use driver skills and non-destructive testing knowledge to supervise and pilot contract automated non-destructive test vehicle
- Produce regular manual testing programs and carry out manual ultrasonic, magnetic particle and liquid penetrant rail activities
- Work autonomously and plan day of operation tasks & resources as required
- FIFO/DIDO is NOT offered for this role. Must live in Rockhampton or local areas
Technicalities
- Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure (preferred)
- Ultrasonic Testing Competencies (essential)
- Current Class C Manual Drivers Licence (mandatory)
- Demonstrated rail industry background with experience in ultrasonic tester role (preferred)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of track construction, maintenance, degradation mechanisms and rail defects (preferred)
- Understanding of rail welding methods and rail weld repair
- Sound computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Willingness to complete CAT 3 Medical and relevant Psychometric Testing
- Capability to travel across Central Queensland Coal Network as required for system closures and inspections
