AEMO at the Heart of Energy
AEMO is Australia’s independent energy system and market operator and system planner. AEMO’s purpose is to ensure safe, reliable and affordable energy today, and enable the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians. Australian governments are now committed to a net zero economy for Australia by 2050 and our vision is to enable this. We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems, and our core values revolve around character, commitment, and connection. Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.
About the role
AEMO’s Gas Market & Systems Operations division (GASRTO) plans for and maintains the high-reliability operation of the gas system and markets while adapting to changes in gas supply and market regulations.
You will assist in supporting AEMO’s East Coast Gas System (ECGS) functions, including managing industry reporting into the AEMO Gas Bulletin Board, monitoring east coast gas supply adequacy, signalling risks and potential shortfalls to the market, and assisting in the development of directions or other market interventions to resolve any identified issues the market cannot independently resolve.
This role can be based in either Brisbane or Melbourne.
What you will be doing
- Lead in the development and maintenance of modelling tools and reports necessary for monitoring the east coast gas systems supply adequacy, and take an active role in the development and implementation of procedures and guidelines specifying AEMO requirements with respect ECGS reliability and supply adequacy rules and laws.
- Provide support for signalling to the market any identified risks or threats through the use of market notices and/or conferences and assist in determining the appropriate response to any identified threats such as directions or trading and assist with the implementation of those responses.
- Participate as on call support, during gas emergency and abnormal gas operations through providing advice, training and process improvements with consideration to risk, financial impact and reputation.
