About the Team & the Position
AEMO is embarking on a technology uplift program, designed to modernise systems, enhance operational efficiency, and shape the future of the energy landscape. This large-scale transformation is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile initiative and contribute to its success from the ground up.
The Benefits Realisation Lead role is responsible for measuring and tracking agreed outcomes to ensure the program’s goals translate into measurable outcomes. You’ll monitor progress, report on benefits and influence change management across a complex, multi-disciplinary environment. This role will track success measures and validate achievements against Program milestones that will deliver a significant risk reduction Program of national significance.
Position Responsibilities
The Benefits Realisation Lead is responsible for ensuring all the ‘critical project’ benefits are clearly defined, accurately tracked, and transparently reported in alignment with the Commonwealth Grant Agreement. Working closely with the Program Director, Finance Business Partner, PMO Manager, Program Manager, and Workstream Leads, this role provides end‑to‑end oversight of benefits management across the Program. Key responsibilities include:

- Maintaining and reporting on the project Benefits Realisation Management Plan, ensuring the documentation remains current and aligned with the Program requirements
- Tracking and monitoring benefits realisation across this critical project in accordance with agreed schedules and established benefit realisation pathways outlined in the consolidated benefit profiles.
- Defining frameworks for tracking and reporting project outcomes against benefits. Conducting pre-and-post implementation evaluations and lessons learnt exercises for benefits reporting and management.
- Co-ordination with Program Manager, Workstream leads and Benefits Owners to ensure accurate understanding of the workstreams/projects' contribution to associated benefits and sub-benefits.
- Supporting Workstream Leads in completing benefits reporting through the Benefits Register and related mechanisms.
- Reviewing benefit updates via the benefit dashboards and preparing monthly benefits reports, highlighting risks to benefit realisation and recommending mitigation actions where required.
- Providing input into scope changes and assessing their impact on proposed benefits. Operating within established governance arrangements to ensure robust project management and integration of benefits management.
- Preparing high-quality monthly benefit reports, briefing notes, presentations, and progress updates for leadership teams.
- Co-ordination with Workstream leads, Project Managers and Benefit Owners to identify new or emergent benefits that warrant tracking. .
Position Requirements
Skills & Experience:

- Proven experience in a similar role. Experience in Australian Energy / Utility industry (preferred)
- Experience in project or program assurance including deliverable reviews, compliance, and post implementation reviews across complex programs
- Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills to identify problems and deliver practical solutions
- Strong understanding of governance and associated management frameworks
- High proficiency with Microsoft tools and records management systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to guide team towards planned quality outcomes. Ability to build trusted relationships with Leadership, project managers, PMO and governance bodies
- High attention to detail, demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong risk awareness, able to identify emerging issues and escalate appropriately.
Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance.
Education/ professional Certifications:

- Tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field.
