Your new role
The role of Insurance Claims Specialist primarily exists to support the operational management of claims by our outsourced service providers and to represent the Insurance Claims team as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders to liaise with on claims matters.
Duties include but are not limited to;
- Support the team in responding to internal and external insurance claim queries and complaints so that insurance claims matters are processed efficiently.
- Support the review and decisioning of terminal illness and permanent incapacity release recommendations.
- Support the review and decisioning of death claim distribution recommendations.
- Manage internal audit processes, completing control requirements, raising issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Represent the Insurance Claims Team as subject matter expert on fund wide projects or initiatives, ensuring that the claims operational function is taken into consideration.
- Work with stakeholders to implement new and enhanced existing monitoring controls, audits, indicators, policies, checklists, templates, process maps and procedures as necessary.
- Maintain and develop related documentation, processes, protocols, and procedures for consistent oversight and reporting.
- Use data to identify risks, issues, and opportunities, and present this information in a concise, meaningful way.
- Report and resolve insurance claims related breaches and incidents, including any preventative actions.
- Engage and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and service providers such as our insurance providers, to build positive working relationships.
What you'll need
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a similar role (with an administrator or in superannuation insurance, preferably group claims)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to proofread, spelling & English grammar skills.
- An ability to read technical documents intelligently, to determine the subject matter and to prepare and summarise reports.
- Advanced use of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- RG146 accreditation (preferred)
- Excellent organisational abilities to manage tasks according to priority.
- Meticulous attention to detail and pride in performance
- Ability to work autonomously and pro-actively without supervision and to set own work plan to meet deadlines.
- Ability to identify & drive improved ways of working and present new solutions for discussion.
- An inner drive and energy to help the team deliver excellent outcomes.
