Your new role
As a Manager in the Valuations team at AustralianSuper, you will join a growing team with a global reach. This role will focus on the Property Assets within the Portfolio and offers a great opportunity to experience diversity and scale in property valuation-related matters and also be part of the leadership in an exciting time of growth for the Function.
You will be responsible for managing the independent valuation process for a global portfolio of property assets and work closely alongside our portfolio management teams. You will also contribute to the expansion of the valuation oversight function, both in Australia and overseas, and be in a key leadership position in the team.
The role can be located in either Melbourne or Sydney with hybrid working arrangement available.
Key duties include but not limited to;
- Manage the valuation process of the unlisted property assets on an annual, semi-annual or quarterly cycle. This will involve working on properties, both stabilised and developmental, within different market sectors and geographic regions.
- Collaborate with various internal stakeholders (e.g. Asset Class, Mid Risk and Portfolio Management teams) on valuation matters for value-add scenarios, ESG, strategy & direction, risk mitigation and potential acquisition and divestment processes.
- Be part of the key leadership group within the Valuation Team and support the continued expansion of the Valuation function within the Fund.
- Actively contribute to the education and career development of the junior members of the team.
- Oversee the various engagements of the Fund's valuers to ensure valuations are in accordance with the Fund's Valuation Policy and are recorded with the Fund's Custodian in a timely and accurate manner.
- Contribute to the development, refinement and implementation of appropriate valuation control processes as they relate to property valuations.
- Manage valuation risk by ensuring valuation conclusions are appropriate.
What you'll need
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Property or other relevant area.
- Post graduate qualifications/memberships - AAPI and/or MRICS.
- Experience working within an established real estate company, specialist valuation firm or an institutional/corporate investing organisation in Australia
- More than 8 years of experience in the property sector including direct involvement in undertaking valuations.
- Self-starter comfortable working in a team where project management of multiple tasks is required.
- Experience managing projects with several stakeholders and service providers.
- Experience with the preparation of reports, analysis of information and drawing of conclusions.
