About the position
The Assessment Officer role is part of the Loan Origination function. The key purpose of the role is to accurately assess a customer’s loan application and validate data in line with policy and regulations. You will also ensure that decision making, and Designated Lending Authority usage is executed within the bank’s risk framework and meets regulatory obligations.
You will be responsible for the quality of files to ensure correct and complete information is available to enable settlement to proceed. Assessing home loan applications for our Mortgage Brokers, Strategic Partners and Local Distribution channels, you’ll contribute to our customer experience and offer an excellent service to our partners by delivering on goals to meet tight deadlines.
This is a hands-on role where it is you, not a computer, making the decisions and you will engage with your internal stakeholders when loans are declined to explain, educate and re-submit where appropriate. With dedicated Team Managers to support you develop as a person and dedicated Credit Officers in the team to support you with the technical aspects of the role you will be well set up to grow your career with us.
We have multiple roles available and are open to the role being either full time or part time, so let us know what flexibility looks like to you. You can be based in Adelaide, Bendigo, Brisbane, Ipswich, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney. The bank is able to offer hybrid work from home/office arrangements after the initial training period.

About you
You will have an extensive assessment background with proven experience in lending assessment, understanding and interpreting lending policy, and requirements relating to NCCP, LTO, Corporations Law rules and other relevant regulatory and legislative requirements.
Only applicants with a proven background in lending assessment will be considered.

Sound credit decision making skills and ability to make judgements based on experience

A quality focus and highly accurate approach with constant attention to detail

Highly developed time management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines

High level of verbal and good written communication skills, including ability to have difficult conversations

A thorough understanding of Bank policies and procedures in relation to the release of information to external parties
