About the role

We are transforming, modernising and simplifying and you can be part of that!

To uplift our focus on data and analytics, the Group Data Office (GDO) was established in early 2022 to own the Group Data and Analytics Strategy and drive the Group level data capabilities, acting as an independent functional unit reporting into the Chief Transformation Officer. In this context, the Group Data Office sets the frameworks and standards, and drives best practice capability uplift across the organisation in relation to data management, data governance, the data modernisation roadmap, and deriving value from data through analytics and insight.

Reporting to the Head of Data Management, you will work with key business stakeholders and senior leaders to establish data management capabilities within the Group and continuously improve the governance and value of data that flows through information assets.

You will lead a team of Data Management professionals to provide an enterprise Data Management function and support the development of data management capabilities throughout business and technology divisions. They will support the definition and continuous improvement and evolution of enterprise standards and guidelines to consistently guide Data Custodians and Data Stewards to perform and embed enterprise processes as required across all agreed information entities. To identify and implement data management strategy and support the education of the organisation about the process of managing the group’s data within the Data Management Framework, and with consideration of the Group’s Data Risk Appetite.

You will provide leadership direction through education of business forums and demonstration of best practice data management in partnership with business divisions.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Partner with the Data Governance Product Owner and technology leaders to coordinate implementation activities identified in our roadmap as strategic priorities for improvement of the management of the Group’s data and information assets.
  • Plan and lead the roll out of an enterprise-wide data management framework, identifying improvements to policies and standards, governance metrics, processes and related tools through test and learn data management activities.
  • Identify and suggest updates to organisational artefacts to ensure data management is embedded in roles and processes, policies, standards and reference material.
  • Understand and communicate the role of Data Management in achieving the group’s strategy and operational and compliance obligations.
  • Define and continuously improve the approach to measure data integrity across the Group.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to data related initiatives to drive the establishment or improvement of data quality through data management practices within Enterprise Delivery projects.

About you

You will have the ability to deliver data management capabilities in a complex data ecosystem and be able to influence senior leaders and drive outcomes at an organisational level.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • A deep understanding of data management practices, pragmatically applied, using automated processes and workflows where possible to drive efficiencies and minimise resource requirements to deliver.
  • A practical approach to resolving issues focussing on delivering timely benefits to the organisation.
  • The ability to generate a productive team environment and co-ordinate resources across different areas to achieve results.
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication, varied presentation styles and techniques, problem solving and project management.
  • Demonstrated time management skills, including the ability to prioritise work and lead a team to meet deadlines in an agile environment.
  • The ability to interpret regulatory requirements and navigate complex rules and translate into deliverable business outcomes.
