About the Role
The Boral Stonyfell Quarry is one of Adelaide’s oldest quarries and is located at the base of the Adelaide Hills in what is known as the ‘Adelaide Hills Face Zone’.
Reporting to the Technical Manager – Quarries SA, we have an exciting, permanent, full-time opportunity for a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our high performing and committed team at our Stonyfell Laboratory. As the newest member, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our sampling and testing of quarry products.
Key Duties
- Testing of quarry products in accordance with approved Australian standard (AS1141 + AS1289) and DIT test procedures.
- Sample collection of various types of materials from Boral quarries as well as customer worksites
- Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Provide recommendations for product modifications to ensure product specification requirements are satisfied
- Follow Inspection and Test plans to carry out production and compliance testing
- Ensure compliance with company OH&S and environmental policies and guidelines through a pro-active approach
About You
- Previous experience in a construction materials laboratory, an understanding of the Quarry industries and exposure to ISO 17025 through NATA accreditation with its rules and procedures, would be viewed favourably
- Good interpersonal and communication skills , a desire to succeed in a competitive market and customer focus are essential
- Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
- Well-developed analytical skills and basic computer literacy a minimum
- A Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques will be highly regarded
- Availability to work full time Monday to Friday with flexibility to work Saturday as required
