About the People Group
Canva’s People Group has a big mission to build the most effective and engaged company in the world! Our success is finding, growing and empowering the best engineers, designers, product managers, growth marketers and operators to ship incredible products to our global design community. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a People Partner (HR Business Partner) to join our global People Partnering team and help elevate our Engineering Speciality.

About the Role
You’ll be a champion of Canva’s values, working closely with your People Group peers and Engineering leads to coach, navigate and solve problems. You'll develop and launch programs that support all Canvanauts to be successful. You're someone who thrives in a fast-moving, fluid environment and is passionate about supporting teams to scale effectively.

You'll spend ~40% of your time managing and coordinating a wide range of projects supporting operational and strategic objectives. The remainder of the role will encompass a broad spectrum of HR advisory responsibilities, including providing advice and support to leaders and Canvanauts across the people and culture spectrum.

You're an HR enabler with a bias for action and results. You know that meeting the business where it's at, building exceptional foundations and positive relationships is the key to ensuring those high-impact, strategic pieces of work land with positive impact at scale.

This role can be remote-friendly across Australia and New Zealand, with a preference for Sydney.

What you'll do

  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of people programs, strategies and initiatives aligned to the priorities of the People Group and Engineering Speciality.
  • Develop a solid understanding of your key partners and the business challenges they're working to solve. Design deliver tailored people programs & initiatives that enable them to achieve their Crazy Big Goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Engineering Speciality on people-related matters by providing expertise, support and coaching on the broad spectrum of HR advisory.
  • Leveraging experience with program/project management, coordination, and relationship-building to partner with cross-functional teams and working groups to achieve successful project delivery from initiation to deployment.
  • Facilitate and build leadership capability around cyclical people programs, such as performance, development, and compensation reviews
  • Proactively drive initiatives forward. Keeping seasonal programs on track by coordinating and tracking timelines, milestones, and statuses, calling out issues as needed. Working across big-picture initiatives with the ability to break assignments down into manageable efforts and ensure they are able to be tracked and delivered.
  • Analyse people reports, dashboards and datasets to make quality, data-driven insights, recommendations and decisions.
  • What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in a People Partnering or People Advisory role, covering the broad generalist spectrum of HR.
  • Background working with tech startups, SaaS businesses or in hyper-growth and scaling environments.
  • A flair for project management, with the agility to manage and coordinate a wide range of projects and initiatives.
  • A hands-on, roll-your-sleeves-up approach and a love of working with a collaborative and fun team.
  • Skilled at working with and influencing a broad range of partners, including leaders & coaches, as well as other People teams.
  • A natural curiosity to learn more and proactively find the information you need from stakeholders across the business.
  • Incredible organisation skills, a high degree of judgement and the ability to juggle a diverse range of priorities.
  • Balance working individually and autonomously. You’re comfortable being part of a team, leading projects, or owning things end to end.
  • Progressive, innovative and passionate about developing extraordinary people and organisations.
  • Working at Canva
