About the role

Are you seeking a new opportunity where you can make a difference? We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

As part of our team, you will report to the Safety Manager - Projects, playing a vital role in championing safety. Working collaboratively with our people and contractors, both in the office and on-site, you will contribute to creating a safe working environment for our projects.

As a valued team member your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of safe projects and you will actively contribute to our sustainable practices and make a positive impact on our projects and the environment.

Collaborating with our stakeholders you will be responsible for:

  • Coach and mentor project line managers to improve safety performance within the Project Delivery Group.

  • Provide technical advice to support the Projects Leadership Team in implementing the CBH HSE contractor management process.

  • Assist the Projects teams in maintaining and reporting progress on Health and Safety statutory compliance activities.

  • Actively engage in CBH Field leadership activities such as conducting Safety Interactions, Critical Control Verifications, Project Site HS Inspections, and Contractor Safety Management System Audits.

  • Support the development and implementation of the Health & Safety Framework across projects, ensuring continuous engagement with key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Participate in Contractor Management processes, including contract tender reviews, risk reviews, facilitating risk assessments, and conducting incident investigations as needed.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a safety-first culture and building positive relationships with employees, contractors, and stakeholders.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Safety and Health.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role as a Client, EPCM, or Principal Contractor, preferably in Greenfield/Brownfields construction or Rail projects.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.

  • Experience in coaching and mentoring leaders and team members, promoting behavioural-based safety practices, conducting workplace inspections, and verifying critical controls.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively and navigate complex relationships with diverse groups of individuals.

  • Strong team player with demonstrated values of Collaboration, Respect, Reliability, Sustainability, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity.

  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment, monitoring risk controls, and implementing actions within project delivery.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of monitoring progress, evaluating performance, and providing improvement recommendations.
