The Role:

As a Grain Technician, your role is responsible for ensuring grain is received, loaded, and moved in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. The role is also responsible for maintaining a high level of hygiene standards across site.

Metro Grain Centre operates on a 24/7 basis and as such has a number or roster options available.

As an integral member of our team, we’ll expect you to have the ability to work safely in a physically challenging work environment and will be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

As a team member at the high performing Metro Grain Centre key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Working in close proximity to road and rail transport moving grain to and from the site;

  • Ensure grain is received and maintained within receival and quality standards;

  • Ensure grain loaded is correct, free of contaminants and within specifications;

  • Ensure grain is moved within programmed times;

  • Maintain a high standard of hygiene across the site;

  • Receive instructions for the collection, preparation, testing and storage of grain samples; and

  • Maintain a safe working area for all employees and customers.

Our ideal candidate is a dedicated individual who has:

  • Strong commitment to working safely and contributing to a safe working environment;

  • Competency in understanding and following work instructions;

  • Familiarity with manual handling tasks and working outdoors;

  • Affinity for working in a team environment;

  • Strong communication skills;

  • Basic computer literacy;

  • Basic machinery skills and/or willingness to undertake training;

  • No fear of heights or confined spaces;

  • No aversion to working in areas where grain dust is present, wearing appropriate PPE; and

  • Holder of valid forklift, front end loader, MR/HR/HC licences.
