Senior Analyst - Market Risk

About the role

We are looking for an experienced analyst to join the Market Risk team to oversee one of the largest grain trading books in Australia. The analyst would provide objective reporting and analysis of commodity and foreign exchange positions, their valuations, and associated risks. This role involves assessing the market risk factors that influence CBH's financials through conducting position analysis and comprehensive market data analysis, including probabilistic, scenario, and stress testing.

Collaborating with stakeholders within CBH you will:

  • Foster relationships across CBH teams, discussing and addressing issues with confidence.

  • Adapt to flexible work arrangements, managing competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Communicate risk matters promptly and respectfully.

  • Ensure accurate reporting of commodity, FX, futures, and derivatives positions and their associated risk exposure.

  • Prepare position and valuation reports, identify and escalate any policy limit breaches.

  • Capture and analyse data trends affecting CBH’s risk position.

  • Manage daily tasks and project work with varying priorities.

  • Empower the Trading team to make effective risk mitigation decisions based on accurate and up-to-date information.

  • Continuously maintain and develop risk models to enhance decision-making and mitigate potential losses.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or IT and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial or commodity markets role.

  • A strong knowledge and understanding of financial risk management practices, including market risk principles and information systems such as Trading or Treasury Management Systems.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in pivot tables.

  • Coding capability in languages such as VBA, Python, PowerBI, or SQL.

  • An ability to work collaboratively and communicate with a diverse group of people and navigate complex relationships.

  • An ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate values of Collaboration, Respect, Reliability, Sustainability, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to monitor and evaluate progress and provide recommendations for improvement.
