Our storage and handling system currently receives and exports around 90 per cent of the Western Australian grain harvest and is regarded as one of the best in the world. We in-load via our own in-house design screw conveyor pits, bucket elevators, ground conveyors, trippers, and stackers into multiple storage types. We strive to continually improve our equipment from site feedback, and we have a strong pipeline of work that focuses on out-loading with multiple new rail loading facilities and expansions of our existing receival sites.

About the role

We are seeking Mechanical Engineers who are passionate about engineering and safety to contribute to our diverse and inclusive workplace.

Our Project Delivery Group is a collective force, combining expertise in construction, commercial, engineering, project management, studies, and rail. With this wealth of knowledge, we create and deliver projects that optimise safety, efficiency, effectiveness, and capacity for CBH's supply chain infrastructure. Together, we act as a cohesive unit, driving the success of our supply chain and sustaining value for West Australian grain growers. You will be working on multiple projects across the PDG Portfolio including Expansion, Enhancement, Rail Outloading and Infrastructure requiring design, technical support and governance. You will also service Operations and Maintenance Teams through Engineering Work Requests.

As a valued team member, you will be responsible for:

  • Support the delivery of PDG projects by providing technical support to project managers, responding to technical queries, reviewing contractor drawings, contractor documentation and assisting in site commissioning

  • Design of mechanical machinery and materials handling equipment.

  • Management of engineering design projects.

  • Provide engineering advice to support projects that increase storage capacity, improve output, reduce risk and maintain the integrity of CBH’s assets.

  • Preparation of project and equipment design documentation.

  • Minimise the cost footprint and maximise value creation for CBH in the deployment of capital projects and identification of innovation opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce waste in both internal processes and external service providers.

  • Identification, development, monitoring and delivery of technical standards and specifications which achieve positive outcomes through low-cost solutions, standardisation, replication and high performance across all CBH Assets.

  • Ad-hoc travel to remote sites when required for equipment inspections and site commissioning works.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical engineering with at least 7 years’ post graduate experience.

  • Experience with materials handling highly regarded.

  • Proven ability to interpret Mechanical engineering principles, practices and concepts and apply them to achieve practical outcomes.

  • Demonstrated commitment to a safety culture and previous input into complex brownfield and greenfield sites with regards to Safety in Design principles and HAZID/OP participation experience.

  • The ability to produce high quality written documentation including engineering reports, scopes of work and management presentations.

  • Experience in the investigation and analysis of complex Mechanical engineering problems including mechanical engineering deliverables such as specification, calculations, technical evaluations, reports and drawings.

  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, codes of practice, and regulations.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Provide project support in a dynamic and well-paced project environment.

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • An ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate values of Collaboration, Respect, Reliability, Sustainability, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to monitor and evaluate progress and provide recommendations for improvement.
