Relationship Manager, Core Coverage - Vice President

Shape the Next Generation of Australian Growth Companies

This is a unique opportunity to lead Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) Australia's coverage of businesses turning over $15 - $150 million, a strategically important segment focused on acquiring, banking and growing relationships with some of Australia's most dynamic and rapidly scaling companies.

Reporting directly to the Country Head of Citi Commercial Bank Australia and serving as a member of Citi Commercial Bank Australia’s Leadership Team, the successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future direction of the franchise. The role offers exceptional exposure to senior leadership across Citi, direct influence on business strategy, and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with high-growth companies as they evolve from domestic market leaders into global enterprises.

You will work with public and private corporates at pivotal stages of growth, helping them navigate expansion, acquisitions, internationalisation, capital raising and broader strategic opportunities. Leveraging Citi's global network and institutional capabilities, you will originate, develop and deepen client relationships by delivering comprehensive banking solutions across transaction banking, trade finance, lending and financial markets, partnering with clients throughout their lifecycle and becoming a trusted advisor to executive leadership teams.

This role is ideally suited to an ambitious banker looking to accelerate their career, broaden their leadership experience, deepen their client coverage capabilities and build a reputation as a leading relationship manager within one of the world's premier financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Franchise Development

  • Lead Citi Commercial Bank Australia's Core Coverage segment and contribute to the strategic direction of the broader Australian franchise.
  • Serve as a member of the Australian CCB Leadership Team, helping shape business priorities, client strategy and growth initiatives.
  • Drive origination efforts focused on identifying, targeting and acquiring new-to-bank relationships across Australia's high-growth mid-market segment.
  • Build and execute sector and client acquisition strategies aligned with Citi's growth objectives.

Client Coverage & Relationship Management

  • Manage a significant portfolio of client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for senior executives and key decision makers.
  • Develop trusted advisory relationships with founders, CEOs, CFOs and private equity sponsors.
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to support clients through key growth milestones.
  • Deepen existing relationships and increase share of wallet through coordinated delivery of Citi's capabilities.

Business Development & Growth

  • Source, develop and convert new business opportunities across lending, treasury and trade solutions, capital markets, foreign exchange and broader institutional banking products.
  • Identify rapidly scaling companies that would benefit from Citi's global network, international footprint and product expertise.
  • Partner with product specialists, investment banking, markets and transaction banking teams to deliver holistic client solutions.
  • Build and maintain a strong external network across the Australian corporate, investor, advisory and private equity ecosystem.

Credit & Risk Management

  • Own and oversee the end-to-end credit relationship for assigned clients.
  • Structure and negotiate complex financing solutions while maintaining disciplined risk management standards.
  • Ensure appropriate identification, escalation and management of risks.
  • Maintain the highest standards of compliance with Citi policies, regulatory requirements and risk governance frameworks.

Client Experience & Execution

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless and differentiated client experience.
  • Support onboarding, KYC and ongoing client maintenance processes.
  • Execute strategic initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement across the business.
  • Share market insights, industry trends and strategic perspectives with clients to strengthen relationships and enhance Citi's value proposition.

Qualifications

  • 8-15+ years of relationship management, corporate banking and commercial banking experience.
  • Demonstrated success in originating, acquiring and growing corporate relationships.
  • Strong credit, structuring and risk management capabilities.
  • Experience working with growth companies, mid-market corporates, founder-led businesses and/or private equity-backed companies.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to identify and execute complex client opportunities.
  • Proven leadership capability with experience influencing stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking, business development and execution skills.
  • Passion for client acquisition, franchise building and helping companies achieve their growth ambitions.
  • Experience working across multiple banking products and solutions is highly desirable.

What This Role Offers

  • Direct reporting line to the Country Head of Citi Commercial Bank Australia.
  • Membership of the Australian CCB Leadership Team.
  • Ownership of a strategically important growth segment.
  • Significant client-facing autonomy and responsibility.
  • Exposure to senior executives, founders, private equity sponsors and board-level stakeholders.
  • Opportunity to leverage Citi's global platform across more than 90 countries.
  • Clear pathway for professional growth, expanded leadership responsibilities and future senior leadership opportunities within Citi.
  • The ability to build and lead relationships with Australia's next generation of market-leading companies.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Postgraduate qualifications (MBA, CFA, CA or equivalent) preferred.
