The role
As the GM Wagering and Community Gaming Compliance, you will form part of a dynamic leadership team responsible for regulating the wagering and community gaming sectors through the development and delivery of effective compliance, audit and inspection programs. The role leads and manages the Wagering and Community Gaming Compliance Branch, ensuring organisational and legislative responsibilities are delivered effectively while providing strategic direction to support the department’s regulatory objectives.
Drawing on your extensive experience in regulatory compliance, governance, risk management and people leadership, you will play a key role in protecting the integrity of the wagering and community gaming sectors through contemporary, intelligence-led compliance strategies, robust regulatory oversight and evidence-based decision-making. You will provide high-level advice to executives, the Commission and Government, while fostering productive relationships with industry, government agencies and other key stakeholders.
To be successful in the role, you will bring demonstrated expertise in compliance, governance and risk management, together with strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. You will have the ability to manage complex and sensitive matters, develop and implement compliance frameworks and regulatory programs, provide authoritative advice on legislative and policy issues, and cultivate a high-performing culture focused on accountability, integrity, innovation and continuous improvement.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department and across the WA public sector for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.
To be eligible for fixed term employment you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia or have a valid visa to live and work in Australia for the duration of the fixed term employment at the time of application.
Should a qualification be required for this position, applicants must provide their certification and/or academic transcripts to verify relevance to the job requirements. Qualifications obtained outside of Australia must be provided with an assessment from the Overseas Qualifications Unit to ensure they meet Australian Standards (this is a free service).

- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage resources including human, physical, financial, technical and information, to meet organisational objectives.

- Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines, and research law applicable to the delivery of compliance audit and inspections.
