Take the next step in your career with Gemco Rail, a leading provider of rail maintenance and engineering solutions. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Locomotive Maintainer to join our growing team in Forrestfield, WA.
In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out inspections, maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on locomotives to ensure they meet safety, compliance, and operational standards. You will work as part of a skilled, safety-focused team in a fast-paced rail environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Perform repairs and maintenance on locomotives and associated equipment.
Participate in modification programs, equipment reconditioning, fault finding, testing, and responding to derailments or other incidents.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Complete all required documentation accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner.
Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance requirements.
This position reports directly to the Project Delivery Manager.
About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter and Turner, Diesel Mechanic, Boilermaker, Electrical Fitter, or similar trade.
Medically fit and physically capable of performing all job duties, including passing random drug and alcohol testing.
Trade and industry experience using hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of an organisation.
Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and multi-skilling.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:
Knowledge of the rail industry, particularly rolling stock maintenance and servicing
High-risk work licences, overhead crane, forklift, Franna, dogging, rigging, etc.
