Join a company that is passionately committed to the pursuit of a better world through positive change. With more than 70 years of business and technical expertise in mining, energy, and infrastructure, our 10,000 colleagues in 150 countries tirelessly work toward bettering the industries in which we operate. With practical solutions that are safe, innovative and sustainable, we think globally while acting locally.

Our Project Delivery Group (PDG) is a dynamic team of professionals passionately committed to world-class project delivery across the globe. With expertise in sustainable studies, asset building and operations, and industry-leading efficiencies, our best-in-class team leverages methodologies, governance and systems that are unparalleled in the engineering space. Are you looking for an opportunity to join a diverse group of professionals who are committed to remaining exceptional? We look forward to hearing from you.

At Hatch, our commitment to Achieving No Harm is at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to join our Australia-Asia (AUA) Health and Safety team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a long-term career in health and safety within a global engineering and professional services organisation. Reporting to the Regional Manager, Health and Safety AUA, you will gain hands-on experience supporting regional health and safety systems, processes, reporting and governance activities. This role is designed as a development pathway, providing exposure to a broad range of health and safety functions while building the foundational skills required to support project teams. As your knowledge and experience grow, there will be opportunities to transition into more project-focused health and safety responsibilities. This position can be based in either Perth or Brisbane.

As part of the Regional Health and Safety team, you will receive mentoring and support while contributing to a range of health and safety initiatives. You will learn how safety systems, reporting processes and compliance frameworks operate within a complex project environment, while developing the skills and experience needed for future career progression within the health and safety profession.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Hatch's Health and Safety Management System and Safety Information System (iPasSM).
  • Coordinate and maintain regional health and safety documentation, procedure registers and document control processes.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly safety reports, including statistics, audit results and inspection data.
  • Assist with incident reporting processes, action tracking and ensuring timely close-out of corrective actions.
  • Support project and study teams with incident notifications, reporting requirements and health and safety administration.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of health and safety initiatives, campaigns, events and training programs.
  • Prepare training materials, inductions, presentations and project-specific safety documentation.
  • Maintain and update the AUA Health and Safety SharePoint site, ensuring information is accurate, current and accessible.
  • Support governance, reporting and quality-related activities within iPasSM, including data analysis and performance reporting.
  • Develop an understanding of project health and safety requirements and progressively contribute to project-based activities as experience grows.

About You
You are a recent graduate or early-career professional with a genuine interest in developing a career in health and safety. You may hold a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Health Sciences, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business or a related discipline and are eager to learn how health and safety systems, governance processes and reporting frameworks support the successful delivery of projects. You are highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You enjoy working with systems, data and processes, have strong Microsoft Office skills and are keen to further develop your capabilities in SharePoint, Power BI and other business reporting tools. Most importantly, you are eager to learn, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement. Previous exposure to health and safety principles, auditing, reporting, governance activities or project environments will be beneficial, but is not essential. We are looking for someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn, who is excited by the opportunity to develop their career and progressively transition into project health and safety support roles over time.
