About the Role

Hatch is seeking an experienced Geometric Lead to provide technical leadership and project delivery excellence across major transport and infrastructure projects throughout Australia.

In this role, you will lead the planning, design and delivery of road and highway projects, supporting clients from concept development through to detailed design and construction support. You will play a key role in developing our road design capability, mentoring engineers, and strengthening client relationships while delivering high-quality, innovative outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead road and highway design projects from concept to delivery.
  • Provide technical oversight into geometric design solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with Austroads and client standards.
  • Drive innovation and best practice in transport design.

Project Delivery

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget and quality.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Oversee design reviews and technical governance.
  • Support project delivery across transport infrastructure programs.

Client & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Support proposal preparation and project pursuits.
  • Identify new opportunities within the transport sector.
  • Represent Hatch within industry and professional networks.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and develop road design engineers.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Support capability growth across the transport practice.
  • Champion safety, quality and continuous improvement.

About You

You are a respected transportation professional with strong technical expertise in road and highway design. You enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, leading multidisciplinary teams, and building trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.

You Will Have

  • Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering road and highway projects.
  • Strong expertise in geometric road design and corridor development.
  • Experience using 12d Model, OpenRoads, Civil 3D or similar design platforms.
  • Proven project leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder engagement capability.
  • Excellent communication and commercial acumen.

It Will Be Advantageous If You Have

  • Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility.
  • Experience leading major transport infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Austroads, TMR, TfNSW, VicRoads or Main Roads standards.
  • Business development and work-winning experience.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary design teams across multiple regions.
